ITT to Supply GCA-2000 Radar Systems for Spanish Air Force

White Plains, NY. February 26, 2008 ITT Corporation has been awarded a $10.3 million contract to supply two transportable GCA-2000 ground controlled approach radar systems for the Spanish Air Force through prime contractor Indra Sistemas SA.  The contract includes spare parts, training, as well as assistance with operations and technical support.  The first GCA-2000 system will be delivered in 2008, the second in 2009, and supporting work until 2013.

"This contract award marks our first GCA-2000 sale to Spain and it represents the first of several joint initiatives with Indra Sistemas," said ITT Electronic Systems President Chris Bernhardt. "ITT’s GCA-2000 systems will improve operational capability, including Spain’s commitments to NATO, through ground controlled surveillance for military and emergency civil applications."

The GCA-2000 is a state-of-the-art air traffic control (ATC) radar and is the number one choice for precision approach radar and landing services in the world. The radar combines a surveillance radar for controlling arriving and departing aircraft in the immediate area around the airport with a precision approach radar for guiding aircraft to safe landings in extreme physical environments. The GCA-2000 is able to change runways in less than a minute to support variations in landing conditions.

ITT Corporation and Thales Corporation have signed an exclusive agreement for ITT to build and market the SMART-S Mk2 radar system in the United States.
