ITT Delivers S3D Radar Upgrade to Sweden
White Plains, NY.
August 21, 2006 — ITT Corporation, Inc
(NYSE: ITT) has successfully completed
production testing of the first S3D radar system
upgrade for Forsvarets Materielverk (FMV) of
Sweden. This upgrade delivers new technology for
the processor, transmitter, antenna, displays
and built-in test, resulting in improved
reliability, availability, and maintainability
that extends the life of the S3D Radar an
additional 15 years. Additional upgrades,
currently in process, will provide added
capability for weather detection processing.
Work is being performed by ITT Electronic
Systems Division, Radar Systems – Gilfillan.
The S-3D radar system is a three-dimensional
radar system, operating at S-band that
automatically detects airborne targets and is a
fundamental component of the Swedish Air Defense
infrastructure.
