ITT to Modernize Brazilian Precision Approach
Radar systems
White Plains, N.Y., December 17, 2007 –
ITT Corporation today announced that on December
14 it was awarded a sole source contract by
CISCEA, part of the Brazilian Ministry of
Defense, to upgrade Precision Approach Radar
(PAR-2000) systems sold to the country in 1997.
The contact, valued at USD$9.4 million, includes
spare parts, training, and assistance with
operations and technical support. Work at the
original Brazilian PAR sites will commence in
2008 and conclude approximately five years
later.
"This contract award reinforces the close
working relationship ITT has established with
the Brazilian Ministry of Defense on this
program over the past decade," said Chris
Bernhardt, President, ITT Electronic Systems.
"It also demonstrates the longevity of ITT’s
precision approach radar systems, which will now
be modernized to deliver continued superior PAR
capability for the next 10 to 15 years."
The PAR-2000 upgrade program is designed to
enhance supportability of the system deployed at
military airfields throughout Brazil.
